This song is originally from my album “Thingamabob2,” and this new version is the result of a collaboration with a new group of local musicians. Thanks to all these fine people for their contributions in reworking this song about the Rosewood Massacre, especially Joy Banks who wrote the new arrangement.
A video celebrating resiliency and courage in the face of the pandemic. 25 musicians with roots in Gainesville, Florida (including Ken Block from Sister Hazel and Chris DeMakes from Less Than Jake) contributed tracks to this moving production, in support of the health care community.
I hope every musician has the honor and pleasure of hearing one of their compositions done by an orchestra!
A moving remembrance of one of the most challenging years in American history, including the assassinations of MLK and RFK, set against the backdrop of Vietnam War protests, in the wake of the Summer of Love.
Both a fond memory of the magic of circuses and carnivals as experienced in childhood… and a metaphor for mortality. With a brilliant accordion part played by the marvelous Michael Ward-Bergeman, aka “Master Peace” in his clown days.
Every Memorial Day, our local Veterans for Peace chapter creates a tribute tombstone for every lost soldier and sailor from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, and display them along a busy road. This song is for Scott Camil and all the warriors who returned from conflict to take up the cause of peace. The brilliant trumpet is by Longineu Parsons II, the lead vocal by Darryl Tookes, and the choir features many members of the Casa de Musica songwriter workshop group.
Written in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, in hope that justice and fairness prevail.
Live performance video by Polyphony (Bob McPeek, Fay Baird, Ric Kaestner, and Rob Rothschild). A plea for respect and cooperation in our fractious political world.
